Will Political Setbacks for Stem Cell Advocates Destroy Medical Research Efforts – Yes

I can’t believe this is even a debate. My argument here will be very small and centered around one singular point-this entire debacle with stem cell research setbacks needs to be argued WITHOUT ANY RELIGIOUS INVOLVEMENT WHATSOEVER.

In order for this medical debate to carry on, each side needs to take any spiritual overtones out of it. It defies logic to bring any mentions of “Him” into what is clearly purely a scientific issue. However I know for a religious person no issue can take place on Earth without God having some involvement, in which case the issue needs to be taken to courts devoid of religious bias. And you know where that can happen more efficiently? Europe.

The only way this argument can progress and develop is by taking it beyond any mythological pretenses. I appreciate that this may sound patronizing, but it cannot be put any other way-those with strong religious beliefs do not want this research to take place, and they cannot complete an articulate argument with the use of logic, for, as any Christian will tell you, God does not obey our laws of logic.
I would be overjoyed at anyone on the “no” side making a valid argument without any inclusion of religious overtones at all.

Coming back to what I hope is a more central point, this can be solved by looking at the question. Of course political setbacks will destroy medical research efforts-the very nature of the term “research” means that not allowing it to happen will not allow humanity to attain the knowledge it could do. Conducting the experiments and finding out stem cell research actually reveals nothing would still give us more knowledge than we had before.

If only we can allow ourselves to get that far in the first place.
