Why is there no new Einstein? Wow, that a handful of a question, and it assumes that an Einstein should just come once a generation or something. Einstein was a genius, and his views of the world were revolutionary. I can’t think of another person who has done so much to help us understand the fundamental way that our world works, as well as how the universe works. While there are many smart people, it is no surprise that we haven’t really found another Einstein. Or maybe we do have another Einstein, and we just don’t know about it yet.
When Einstein was growing up it was assumed that he was going to be a do-nothing person. He wasn’t very bright in school, and people just assumed that he was destined to be a failure. I remember watching a show on the History Channel where he was taking a job just doing menial work in a room by himself. The job was nothing special, but it allowed him to think about other things while he worked. This ability to sit and think was what was enabled him to really come to the conclusions that he did.
Today’s world isn’t really set up like that though. We are very structured, and people are seemingly monitored non-stop. There is nothing that we ever do that isn’t scrutinized, and there isn’t a lot of things we can do to run and hide. Unless we want to sit in the bathroom all day, there is bound to be some camera, or some other device monitoring us. Even when we do get free time, we don’t have a lot of time to just sit and think.
We are always on the go, and have something to do. If we aren’t working, then we are weeding the garden, or watching hours of the shows we missed last night. There is always something to do, and we are so stimulated that we don’t really get the time to really just ponder. I don’t think that this is the fault of our society, as we should break away more often than we do, but we just aren’t built like that anymore.
Not only that, but what major discoveries are out there that we can readily solve right now? There are things like time travel, finding new planets, maybe finding a new civilization, but those things aren’t going to come through an equation. They are going to come from exploring, and just plain patience. We have to just realize that people like Einstein happen more by accident then anything else. No one is born thinking that they are going to be smarter than Einstein. Intelligence just happens, it isn’t something that you can breed.
Wondering why there is no new Einstein is like wondering why I don’t make a million dollars a day. It takes a lot of work, and a lot of talent to acquire a million dollars, and it takes that much work to make an Einstein. It takes a long time, lots of natural talent, and the desire to just take chances. You have to be able to ask questions, take leaps, and be willing to put your theories into work. It also takes a lot of smarts, and that is why there is no new Einstein yet.
