The most ferocious dinosaur in my mind is undoubtedly the Spinosaurus. It is the largest of all carnivorous dinosaurs, even bigger than the T-Rex. I see other have answered velociraptor but I have to disagree. Were this question worded differently I would understand, but the question is not plural. Velociraptors hunt in packs and this would have made for a great fight, a family of them against one giant dinosaur, sort of like the end of Jurassic Park. Even then the outcome would be certain, but when answering what the most ferocious dinosaur is, you have to match up potential answers one on one.
And one on one against any other dinosaur, judging from the currently available information, Spinosaurus wins.
Researchers say that the Spinosaurus is likely to have been an opportunistic predator that would pick off prey in a generalized area. They are not sure whether it was primarily a fish catching beast or more of a more land based predator. But do not let its potential taste for fish fool you, this dinosaur is much more dangerous than its eating habits would indicate.
Even thought it was millions of years removed from the time of the T-Rex, Spinosaurus did, however, share its habitat with two other theropods that equalled or exceeded T. rex in size: the massive carnosaur Carcharodontosaurus and the large but lightweight Deladromeus. It no doubt had territorial squabbles with these two beasts, and they both would have tested its battle readiness from different angles. If it could have held its own or even defeated these two creatures it could undoubtedly take out a T-Rex. Remember there is no way to measure a specie’s ferocity, and the legend of T-Rex was firmly developed before Spinosaurus was even popularized.
The idea of one tiny velociraptor defeating something of this magnitude is almost laughable.
Since I think being ferocious constitutes more than just battle ability let me take a moment to describe the creature. This was certainly the longest dinosaur and most likely the largest weigh wise as well. The size of this thing would be immensely intimidating. They could grow as large as sixty feet long and weigh as much as nine tons. It had one enlarged hook like claw on each of its front limbs. Unlike the T-Rex it had extremely long arms, leading some researchers to believe that it might have operated on all fours instead of exclusively walking upright. It had a sail that could be used to make the animal appear to be even bigger than it was!
I understand that the velociraptor would be able to run circles around this thing, but if they were actually forced to fight it would be no contest. With its uniquely long limbs and the claw on the end of them, its reach would be deadly. That coupled with its size and carnivorous temperament make the Spiniosaurus the current dinosaur to beat. Now, who’s hungry?
