Probably the one thing that happens in the science fiction movies where UFOs are involved that is really annoying is when the occupants of a car get out of their vehicle, and stand staring up into the belly of the flying saucer. What were they thinking? Get back in and drive away.
However, a few years ago, on a lonely dark stretch of highway, my son and I happened to notice some bright white lights shining down on the adjoining cornfield. They illuminated the entire field, and they were moving toward us.
We stopped the van, rolled down the windows, and listened, but there was no sound. So, we did exactly what everyone else does. We got out and stood on the side of the road and looked up.
As the C-130 passed over our heads, I realized that we had not heard it because of the wind direction. I also realized that we were standing alone in the dark on a deserted road, looking at what we thought was a UFO.
There were probably no end of UFO reports that night from people not accustomed to seeing a large plane fly over at that altitude, with its landing lights shining down on the fields. These are the situations that skeptics point too.
I personally believe that there are instances that can’t be explained, no matter how hard we try. However, for the sake of the witness, it is always important to have a camera or a video recorder ready to take some pictures or movies.
TV shows are full of video and pictures that have been taken, examined, analyzed and sometimes debunked. They have been called gas, flares, reflections, and ultralights. But, for your own peace of mind, if you see anything unusual you should at least have a photo to prove that you saw something out of the ordinary.
UFO enthusiasts will always accept the fact that something is going on that either the governments of the world don’t know about, or don’t want to share with the rest of us. And, those who have seen something will swear that nothing on earth matches the description of what they saw.
Skeptics give us theories about mass hysteria, genetic predisposition to seeing things in the sky, and, the inevitable swamp gas.
So, about the only thing you can do if you think you see a UFO is alert as many people as you can so that you have more witnesses, and take pictures. You can report it to the local authorities, and you probably should. Hopefully, a lot of other people will do the same.
