Recently, on November 7, 2006, there was a UFO sighting at Chicago’s O’Hare airport. Several United Airlines employees observed a saucer-shaped object which hovered over the airport, then flew through the atmosphere with such force that it left a hole in the clouds.
All logical attempts at explaining this UFO have failed. There were no weather balloons were launched near O’Hare airport on November 7th. It was also known that the military would never conduct test flights near an airport. The appearance of the UFO ruled out the possibility of its being a helicopter, airplane, weather balloon or other man-made craft.
So what was this UFO which the airlines employees sighted? Was it an alien spacecraft? The official explanation was that that this UFO sighting was really a “weather phenomenon.”
On September 25, 2007 a UFO was seen falling from the sky in Kodiak, Alaska at 6:45 in the morning. Some people saw lights in the sky, others saw explosions and red streamers. These lights were seen in Kodiak City, Chiniak and Chiniak Bay.
Two people, who were driving to Kodiak, were convinced that this sighting was an aircraft crash, and called emergency. Twenty miles away in Chiniak, another person saw a light which was so bright, she took it for a helicopter searchlight. However, there was no noise, so thought maybe it was a meteor.
Other witnesses directed rescue workers toward the area where the UFO seemed to have crashed. However, no signs of a crash site were ever found. It seemed nothing could explain this UFO sighting. All aircraft were accounted for, and there were no missing satellites reported.
On June 21, 2007 a chemist named Gary Strauss from Eastlake, Ohio and his son saw four bright lights in the sky over Lake Erie. One by one each of these lights vanished, then suddenly reappeared in a diamond formation. They disappeared and reappeared for more than an hour. Strauss called the police, who sent an officer, who was also able to see the lights. They were also seen by a detective from a different point of view.
The next day, Strauss’ son found a Lake Erie UFO video on YouTube. He was convinced that these were the same lights he and Strauss saw over Lake Erie. However, Strauss does not believe that these unidentified objects are alien spacecraft. He thinks they’re the result of some experimental technology.
Dave Dunford photographed the sky of Cadillac, Michigan on the evening of August 27, 2007. He sighted a strange, silvery object in the sky. There was no sound and no vapor trail. Dunford took some pictures of the UFO and asked his family to come out and see the object. When he returned, it had disappeared.
When he looked at his pictures on his laptop, Dunford could see three dark objects above the UFO, but only in one of the pictures. However, a UFO investigator determined that the object is only a bird.
Many people mistakenly think that a “real UFO” is a “real alien spacecraft.” In actuality, a UFO sighting is merely a sighting of an Unidentified Flying Object. This is, in order to be a “real UFO” the sighted object just has to be unidentified and flying. In fact, it doesn’t even have to be an object! It can be simple non-corporeal lights in the sky, like the Aurora Borealis. It only has to be unexplained. The moment it is adequately explained, it ceases to be a UFO.
Project Blue Book, conducted by the United States Air Force between 1947 and 1969 investigated nearly 13,000 UFO sighting reports. The official findings of the final report for the project were that the UFOs which had been sighted did not constitute at threat to national security, showed no evidence of a technology more advanced than our own, and showed no evidence that any UFO sighting was of an extraterrestrial vessel.
The now defunct OMNI magazine ran its own “Project Open Book” from 1994 to 1995. Writer Dennis Stacy mentioned in his March, 1995 article “The OMNI Open Book Field Investigator’s Guide: Part One” that the majority of UFO sightings are never reported.

One of the most famous UFO cases involves Betty and Barney Hill of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. On the evening of September 19, 1961 the couple was returning from a trip to Niagara Falls. Somewhere along the line, they lost two hours of time. Later, under hypnosis, they recalled memories of alien abduction. In these memories a group of aliens dressed in shiny black uniforms and caps subject the Hills to invasive medical procedures.
In Socorro, New Mexico, on April 24, 1964, policeman Lonnie Zamora had just given up chasing a speeding driver when he sighted a UFO. The object descended, appeared to emit flames and disappeared behind a small hill. The policeman drove to the object, and found an egg-shaped craft perched on metal legs at the bottom of a gully. He believed he saw two white cloaked figures and an insignia on the craft.
One of the best documented UFO sightings took place in the small French village Trans-en-Provence on January 8, 1981. While working in his garden, Renato Nicolai had heard a whistling noise, and had seen a device which appeared to be two inverted saucers. He said it landed on the ground, then lifted back off again. The object left a ring in the ground about six feet in diameter.
All these UFO sightings are strange and mysterious, yet they are not really evidence of alien spacecraft visiting Earth. The majority of astronomers admit the likelihood that alien life exists somewhere within the universe. However, it’s very unlikely that these alien beings have actually visited us. None of the evidence which has been gathered at UFO sightings are the result of a genuine alien visitation.
However, we should continue to investigate these UFO sightings. It’s very likely that they represent some bizarre and mysterious phenomenon which we have yet to understand.
