What is gravity? Gravity’s explanation is the holy grail of physics. Einstein spent the latter part of his career trying to tie gravity and electromagnetism together. String theorists believe gravity comes from outside our own universe and is weakened significantly, resulting in what we experience gravity to be when it gets here. Physicists can calculate the effects of gravity however cannot explain how gravity originates. Origination is the problem. Gravity is so weak it doesn’t make any sense of how it is generated. Magnetism is so much stronger than gravity at short distances but gravity rules universes. The question is how is gravity generated?
The theory starts with a proton. Today we know that the proton is made up of quarks and for this experiment I am going to focus on one of the third generation quarks in the proton, the top quark. Fact: The top quark is about as heavy as a gold atom. When I heard that it blew my mind. How could a particle about as heavy as a gold atom fit inside a proton, when the proton itself is a particle of a gold atom? Answer: The top quark only exists at very high energy levels. The top quark is only produced as you approach the speed of light. According to E=mc^2 mass and therefore gravity increases to infinity. In other words, if you shoot protons through a collider at close to the speed of light, its mass will increase. At rest (not the speed of light) the quarks are known as up and down quarks. If you speed the proton up, those up or down quarks turn into strange or charmed quarks (second generation) or top or bottom quarks (third generation). What a quark changes into is dependent on the energy applied to it.
Another odd event happens as you approach the speed of light. It has been proposed by Peter Higgs in 1966 that the universe is filled with undetectable ether, aptly named the Higgs field. The field is yet to be observed, yet its existence is highly probable since the field would explain many questions concerning how particles obtain mass. As a particle approaches the speed of light it interacts with the Higgs field. The Higgs field creates a drag and attaches itself to the speeding particle, increasing its mass. The effect is profound, as you increase mass you increase gravity. Apparently the Higgs particle/field is limitless, thereby creating a limitless supply of mass capability and/or gravity.
Whew, all that and I still haven’t explained the origination of gravity. Yet in order to understand where I am going, you have to understand the processes involved in the production of mass and gravity. In 1924 Louis de Broglie suggested that, maybe its not just light that can be two things at once, maybe it’s everything. If de Broglie’s idea is expanded into a matter to matter duality, maybe an up quark can be a charmed or a top quark at the same time. Since the law of conservation states that matter cannot be created nor destroyed, therefore the sum of all the energies in the system is a constant. An up quark at a lower energy level could have an inverted invariant energy level, of a charmed or top quark and that inverted scalar value could be perceived as gravity. The inverted gravity field would, in its lower energy state, constantly try to revert to its higher energy state, with no additional energy supplied; it weakly pulls matter towards its origination. The inverted mass gravity field could also be what holds electrons in there orbit. Since there are two up quarks and one down quark in a proton the three intersecting gravity fields would have a stronger inner core and a weaker outer core. In a quantum environment gravity may act like sticky note pad glue. It could be enough glue to hold a speeding, virtually mass less particle in orbit but any slight jarring and the electron flies off into space. Adding energy, the proton and quarks interact with the Higgs particle/field, reversion to higher mass/gravity begins. The proton, with the up and down quarks adds mass. Up and down quarks revert to more massive strange and charmed quarks making the inverted gravity field stronger. Add more energy, strange and charmed quarks revert to top and bottom quarks and the inverted gravity floodgates are wide open. At this level of energy the proton and quarks are near light speed. The next stop is infinite mass and gravity. No more energy can be added. If you could add more energy, you would create a very tiny black hole on earth.
Everything has to add up for the law of conservation. So if I had to guess, I would look for missing mass in a proton. I know that numbers don’t always add up to observed results. So any value of predicted mass that is missing may be inverted mass. I don’t know, I am not a mathematician, maybe I am more like Michael Faraday than James Clerk Maxwell. This thought experiment seems to fit the standard model as it is known today. Everything I have researched doesn’t even suggest that this is a possibility. No one has even thought of this approach to gravity. Yet gravity is so weird compared to the rest of the known forces, I would like to know if my idea has merit. Gravity coming from some place in the 11th dimension has seemed to gather attention lately. I realize the string theorist have the M theory to back up their claim however; if I could do the math to my thought experiment, I feel I would find some commonalities with gravity as well. There may be fudge in the math to make the equation work but sometimes the fudge is the very answer we seek. Please email me your comments in regards to my ideas.
