NLP is one of the most popular and respected technologies for self-improvement. Today it operates under many different names and is used by million of people throughout the world. It is a methodology that aims at teaching people how to live a more productive, rewarding, and joyful life. NLP is based on the assumption of learning; what someone can do another one can learn, as well. NLP induces a change by providing tools to manage mental re-presentations, and master them.
Beginning
In the early 1970, psychologist Richard Bandler and linguist John Grinder co-created the field Neuro-Linguistic-Programming, NLP. Under the guidance, of the famous Anthropologist Gregory Bateson, Bandler and Grinder studied the therapeutic methods of the most successful therapists of theirs time: Fritz Pearls (Gestalt therapist); Virginia Satir (pioneer of family therapy); Milton Erickson (Clinical Hypnotherapist). The study provided an inventory of the theories and tools these admired therapists had used to perform miraculous cures.
On the basis of those studies, Bandler and Grinder analysed how human beings transform mental processes into images, feelings, hearing, taste, language, and movement. They developed tools to influence mental representations in order to obtain a change of the disturbing habitual ways of thinking communicating.
Theory
NLP is a remarkably open approach to therapy, compared to the medical model of labeling, and categorizing of other psychological theories. Sharing information and successful applications to enhance people’s life is the rule amongst NLP practitioners. NLP shows what human beings can accomplish by mastering their minds in educational systems, universities, hospitals, and the business world.
In the teaching fields, it offers techniques for imparting knowledge to memorize more easily, retain well, and recall excellently. For teachers, NLP provides coaching, and for students it renders aids to pursue education successfully.
Richard Bandler developed two more technologies that go beyond the original innovative theories of NLP: Design Human Engineering (DHE) and Neuro Hypnotic Re-patterning (NHR). Both are designed to make personal change easier. DHE aims at a more powerful mind by changing the qualities of mental images, and NHR focuses on re patterning behaviour by hypnotic alteration of the neurochemistry.
Whether NLP theories are capable to induce change in people’s life, whether their applications are useful answered the millions of people who achieved long lasting changes of their behavior patterns, and now lead the life they want. These personal experiences are confirmations of personal success and not absolute prove of any method. NLP is subject to change, and to supports learning in the course of time. NLP offers new options how to deal with the constantly changing boulders of life and helps free people to gain a better life. It is not a pile of technologies. The range of therapeutic instruments provides for each and everyone a choice which one could use without supervision or with the help of practitioners.
Application
NLP has something to contribute to everybody who has something “getting to”, who wishes to improve the daily life, booster strength and health – surely knows how to spice life with humour.
Getting over fear and phobias; Getting over bad suggestions and memories;
Getting through test and exams; Getting through physical recovery;
Getting to be more organized; Getting to meet people; Getting to love.
This free handling of the subject has opened many doors for intelligent application and abuse, as well. Certainly, there are many skilled NLP practitioners who seek to improve the quality of living on this planet. Few practitioners, however, prefer to use the NLP technology to style themselves as guru.
NLP is designed to do things entirely different, to create the each moment of one’s life, to create great things, to free from the boulder of limited thoughts.
