Men and Pregnancy – Yes

It is about time that men start taking on the responsibilities of childbearing as well as childrearing. There are many social and moral implications to this but I feel that we are in a society that would be accommadating to this situation. Times are changing and this change will greatly enhance our experiences as human beings.

There was an uproar over a man who did conceive and give birth to a baby last year and frankly I don’t see what all the fuss was about. He was a woman in the past who kept his uterus and overies so he and his partner could have a child together. I found this to be very enlightening on the different types of family units out there and how our society was evolving. I wish for nothing but the best for this family and I hope the tradition will continue with more non-traditional families out there.

Men are missing out on the greatest experience in life and if science can give this to them then by all means we should allow it. To have a man conceive and give birth to their child would give them the greatest gift in the world. Why deny them this?

I can see where the religious groups would be in a tizzy over this topic. They would believe that only a woman should bear our children because that’s the way God made us. God made man to fertilize the egg so why not give him the chance to carry it to term? Biology is changing and so must we.

Women’s groups are constantly fighting for the rights over their bodies in regards to carrying children so why shouldn’t men do the same? There is no law on the books that say a man cannot carry his child. Period. If a man is willing to sacrifice his body for nine months for his wife and to fully experience the childmaking process, he should be able to.

My husband has said over and over that he wishes he could carry a child for us since I am unable to bear children. Now that science has caught up with the way we think, it could be a possiblity. I can’t say I wont tease him when he gets stretch marks for a change instead of me but he’s the type of man who would take them as badges of honor.

A man is human and every human has the right to bear their own children. It goes to show the compassion and longing that men have to carry their children and care for them before birth. I think this shows character and humility on the part of the man and makes him a stronger man for it. I wholeheartedly support this topic and I look forward to seeing more pregnant men out there in the future.
