2012 hardly seems to be the hour in which Christ reveals himself to the masses for the very fact that it is so well known. So what can we expect from this universal alignment which the mayan calendar seems to point to as the end of an age? The prophetic views of Nostradamus, St Malichi, Edgar Cayce, The Hopi Indians, The Mayans, The Bible and many others all seem to see a great change in our society. Lets take a look at the Mayan views and see what they are trying to tell us.
The mayans had an unusual game which included beheading the winners of the game. This game was the center of their religous cerimonies and the very reason that the spanish invaders destroyed their culture. The games significance in the culture was obvious as the city of the chictzen Itza had 22 courts and each court was the size of a modern football field. The game consisted of six steps, three players and two rather small hoops that were twenty three feet off the ground. The object was to ascend the six steps and knock the ball into the hoop without using their hands, a feat which in its self would challenge any of today’s athletes. If the two defenders won the game they would present their heads to the loser who would decapitate them and release them to the heavenly realm which was a great honor while the loser woud go to be sacrificed to the sun god and likewise if the single player won he would gain the glory spot while the other two were sacrificed. other variations of the game were present in their culture but this was the ‘big game’. So what does this mayan religous cerimony have to do with 2012? The religious nature behind this event was based on the astrologic events of the heavens. The mayans believed that their were seven ages as described by their calendar and at the end of the sixth age man would be reunited with God. December 21st 2012 begins the 6th age. The four ages are depicted with four squares within the circle which represent fire, earth, air and water. Each age was said to end by a cataclismic event which corresponded to the element ruling the age. The fifth age is considered the golden age in which Jesus comes down to enlighten man and gives testimony to God. The sixth age represents a departure from all material and flesh issues and begins to understand the spiritual aspects of life.
Whats interesting about the Mayans religious belief is that it coincides with biblical prophecy as well. In biblical prophecy there are two end time prophets who during the seven year tribulation come to turn the earth back to the way of God and are destroyed by Satan. Even though these two prophets are destroyed by Satan, they are resurected to unite with God which is depicted by the beheadings and the Mayans belief that if they won the battle they get to meet God early. Further inspection of biblical literature shows us that the seven days of creation are actually seven ages on which the seventh day tells us that God rested.We know this because the zodiac represents a heavenly clock and when the zodiac finishes its revolution one day has passed in the heavenly realm. So we know that man goes through six ages(days of creation) before he is reunited with God. This is depicted in the Mayan’s six steps before the final acension to reunite with God takes place.
If we put it together from this perspective we can see that we are entering the sixth age and not the fifth as some have predicted. The fourth age ended with water or the flood as depicted by the Bible, The golden or fifth age was foretold by roman oracles and other prophetic seers, in this age a child will come who will enlighten the people. This is the age we are currently in which ends on December 21 2012. The child, of coarse being Jesus, who brought light in to the world.
So what does the sixth age hold for mankind? Our current events seem to point to an ever increasing choas! Global warming, a substantial increase in earthquakes and natural disasters over the the last decade and war all seem as if they will culminate in some final devistation for mankind. It seems that all of our previous age cycles have ended in calamity and we should expect nothing different from this one. It doesn’t seem likely however, that Jesus is comming back in 2012. The Mayan calendar seems to hold one more clue as to what will happen on Dec 21 2012. On 13.0.0.0.0 baktun the hyroglyphics show a woman depicted with serpants hair who appears to pour out water into the earth. This description of what happens on 2012 is earily linked to another biblical prophecy. This prophecy is in revelations which states that Satan sends a flood after the women who was taken into the desert where she would be safe from the tribulation. If this prophecy relates to the Mayan calendars prophecy it would indeed fit the timing of many other prophetic predictions. St Malichi predicted 112 popes that would reign and our current pope seems to be the 112th. Is 2012 the end of the church? Mother Shipton and Edgar Cayce also predict the the waters will rise in the twinkling of an eye. Is this the mountain which is thrown into the sea? The web bot predicts a nuclear attack on American soil in 2009. Is this the destruction of the prostitute spoken of in Bible prophesy? If so, it would seem to verify the prophetic flood in 2012. Are all these predictions wrong? It seems unlikely that so many prophetic writings would emerge from so many different cultures to predict the same events.
No I don’t think December 21 2012 will be the end of mankind or the end of time, but I do believe we are in for what the Hopi nation calls “The purification.” A message from God to rethink our ways of life and how we relate to one another. A time when man begins to see that love of our neighbors is more important than our financial position. When truth changes our deep rooted fears and secrets are non existant. A spiritual awakening that allows us to understand that we all contribute a special God given gift to the universe. December 21st 2012 is definately a new beginning!
