It is a topic of certain discomfort, yet one that probably needs to be discussed. Humans are not immune to the instincts of sex, and in fact, they often rely on those drives a little more than they should. You see sexual desire is natural. Sexual prowess, on the other hand, is intuitive. And sex as an instinct in humans can be downright dangerous, if not disciplined and contained within the boundaries of love and respect.
If sex was meant only for the purpose of self gratification in people, there would be no need to adhere to the laws of common decency. As it stands though, sex is not a one person event, at least not if you want to receive the full benefit of its authentic activity. Sex is a function that relates to intimacy in humans, heightening their awareness of one another through the bonds of deepest charity.
To be certain, human mates are attracted to each other for a variety of reasons. Attraction itself has never assured a permanent mate in humans. Their instincts are tapered by logic, common sense, financial necessity or ambition, and a multitude of other reasons or excuses for settling down with someone else.
If humans rely completely on instincts for sexual gratification, their acts become animalistic and dangerous. Urges make them rebel against the norms of society, often causing harm to its members. They cease to consider the consequences of their actions, diminishing their capacity to appreciate the higher calling to which they were born.
People are not animals. We do not wound or kill each other for the sake of procreation and territory. Nor do we ignore or diminish the needs of our mates. Courting and foreplay are welcomed occurrences in the process of developing relationships among humans. Genders do not dominate and control other genders following instinctual necessities of survival of the fittest. Instead, people play mind games to conquer their prize, and offer incentives to outshine any opponents with a more worthy proposition.
Sex as an instinct in humans wreaks havoc when it is unleashed. Child predators, rapists, and people with insatiable appetites destroy the beauty of sexual intimacy, along with the security and safety that it brings. Sex in humans was never meant to be a means to an end, but a beginning that strengthens as the bonds of love fuse ever stronger, creating an impenetrable wall of protection from the dangers of the outside world.
