What is it? A mystical name for a futuristic project leads by a polyhedral genius named Jacque Fresco. Who is this character? He’s a very interesting man: industrial designer, author, lecturer, futurist, inventor and obvious a social engineer that learns everything studying by himself. He started this project in the 70’s and now, while he is 93 years old, it still going. If you want to understand part of his ideas you have to search “Future by design” directed in 2006 by William Gazecki, where Fresco explain and show his ideas and a lot of models of those projects. You can also see few building that the Venus project built in Florida, where they started their ambitious project.
We could talk about Jacque Fresco in another post, now I want to focus my post on the “Venus” ideas. It’s difficult split the ideas from the source, that is Fresco, but i guess it’s better talk only about the ideas and not about what this big man do in his life. There will be time for that.
Have you ever heard about “Venus Project”? I guess not but I hope you do, cause it’s very important to understand their ideas. They have an idea that leads to a total redesign of our culture. The first step is to become aware of the “problems that face our modern society: unemployment, violent crime, replacement of humans by technology, over-population and a decline in the Earth’s ecosystems”.
The Venus project it’s based on science, pure science, “through the use of innovative approaches to social awareness, educational incentives, and the consistent application of the best that science and technology can offer directly to the social system”, It could be understood as extreme and utopic, but if you really understand the means of the statements of Fresco, you can find in those thoughts a lot of brilliant ideas. Every decades had men with futuristic ideas, in every time they were called visionary, was labeled as a fools, as a futurists. The establishment science of every period never allowed free thinking. It seems like these ideas never could become reality. Only the story and the sciences improvements give to them the necessary technology to archive their precursor ideas.
