There are many companies that peddle products that claim they can regrow hair, however, the following steps have been proven to regrow lost hair. The key to combating hair loss is hydrating the body, eating plenty of protein and visiting a doctor for medication and treatments.
Step 1
Eat foods that are filled with protein. Protein contains nutrients that help the body regrow hair and is essential in keeping the hair and skin healthy. Protein helps hair follicles to again start producing keratin, the chemical that is essential for hair growth. Make sure you eat some kind of protein at every meal, including chicken, eggs, yogurt, beans and tofu.
Step 2
Rub minoxidil into your scalp to help regrow lost hair. Minoxidil is an over-the-counter medication that you can find at any pharmacy. The hair loss product comes in the form of a foam that you rub into your scalp. The Mayo Clinic recommends minoxidil to regrow hair; however, they say it may take several weeks to see any results, and that the hair that does come back may be thinner and shorter than the hair that grew there before.
Step 3
Hydrate your body if you want to regrow hair because hair follicles need the nutrients from water to start producing keratin again. The Mayo Clinic recommends drinking at least eight eight-ounce glasses of water every day.
Step 4
Go to your doctor for steroid injections. If you have patchy bald spots, steroid treatments may be the most effective option for you. During the steroid treatment, a doctor will inject a steroid solution into the area of skin where you want to regrow hair. The steroid solution stops cells from attacking the hair follicles. This will help your hair follicles start growing keratin again, which in turn will start regrowing your lost hair.
