A Free Way to Get Rid of Acne in One Week

Overview

Acne originates deep in the pores. The sebaceous glands, which are stimulated by hormones, produce an oil called sebum. Too much sebum, along with bacteria, dirt or makeup, can clog pores and cause inflammation and pimples. Initially, it could take a few weeks to clear a breakout, but by establishing a skincare routine that keeps pores clean, you can prevent acne in its early stages and clear pimples in days.

Step 1

Take a shower in the morning. Soap and water slows the production of sebum for about four hours. In laboratory testing, researchers at the Japan Physiology Society found that people who showered in the morning had less oil on their skin throughout the day compared to those who did not shower.

Step 2

Clean oil-prone skin with a baking soda paste. Baking soda works by neutralizing acids and other substances it comes into contact with, reports TheBeautyBrains.com, a website founded by scientists in the cosmetic industry. Baking soda works like an exfoliator and sloughs off dead skin cells, allowing new, healthy skin to emerge.

Make exfoliating paste at home with baking soda by combining current facial cleanser with a teaspoon of baking soda. You can also mix three parts baking soda to one part water to make a paste from scratch. Massage the mixture onto your face, chest and other areas where you typically have breakouts. Wash away with warm water. Because baking soda can also dry skin, use the paste not more than two or three times a week.

Step 3

Use a facial scrub once or twice a week to loosen dirt in pores. Make a homemade facial scrub using honey, oatmeal and aloe vera. Combine 1 tbsp. of plain oatmeal with 2 tbsp. of honey. Add a few drops of moisturizing aloe vera to the scrub. Stir the mixture thoroughly and massage onto the skin for about 30 seconds. Clean off the mixture with a washcloth and warm water.
