Step 1

Avoid alcohol. It has no nutritional value. Alcohol also damages your liver and slows down your metabolism. If you drink about 20 beers a week, you can lose 1 pound a week simply by cutting out your beer habit.

Eat when you get up. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It kick-starts your metabolism so you can burn more calories through out the day. Make sure you eat a meal that is filled with protein, which will give you energy for the day ahead.

Exercise is key to getting rid of fat and cellulite because it helps you burn calories faster. The Mayo Clinic says if you take a fast walk for 45 to 60 minutes four times a week, you can double the rate at which you get rid of fat.

Step 4

Drink lots of water. Hydrating your body helps you burn calories faster and also keeps your liver working properly. The Mayo Clinic says you should drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day.

Step 5

Cut out the salt. Sodium causes your body to retain water, bloating your belly and making it harder for you to lose weight. You get plenty of sodium in your diet already; put away the salt shaker during your next meal. Instead of salt, season your food with oregano, dill, pepper or nutmeg. The Mayo Clinic says you should consume no more than 2,400 milligrams of sodium a day.

Step 6

Get your rest. If you don’t sleep the recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night, The National Sleep Foundation says, you won’t have the energy you need to exercise. Sleep deprivation also slows your metabolism, making it much more difficult for you to get rid of fat and cellulite.
