Overview
Neem oil has been used for centuries as a natural pesticide. It is beneficial to agriculture because the oil poses no threat to humans while effectively repelling bugs that can consume and harm plants. Neem oil was also later discovered to work well when applied to the skin, and it can be used to treat dandruff in your hair or lice in pet fur.
Step 1
Mix 1 tsp. neem oil into 1 gallon of water. Stir the mixture, then apply to your skin with a soft cloth. Some people use neem oil to treat acne, although its benefits for this purpose aren’t scientifically proven. According to TheBeautyBrains.com, neem oil may kill bacteria that contribute to acne.
Step 2
Mix the same solution as created in Step 1. Agitate the fluid shortly before using to mix the oil and water, then soak a sponge in the solution and scrub your scalp to treat dandruff. Let the solution sit in the hair for five minutes before rinsing. For treating lice in pets, use 2 tsp. of neem oil in 1 gallon of water, then apply in the same manner.
Step 3
Mix 1 tsp. neem oil into a gallon of water, then fill a spray bottle with the solution. Mist your skin with this solution to use it as an insecticide. Neem oil is said to repel a number of insects, including mosquitoes.
