How to Improve Circulation to Your Scalp

Overview

Your heart pumps blood to every area in your body. However, the top of your scalp is the hardest area to maintain good blood circulation. Your scalp is also the area that is often not stimulated. When your scalp does not receive enough blood circulation, your hair follicles don’t receive enough nutrients to strengthen your hair. This can cause hair fall and make the scalp more susceptible to hair loss. Having excellent blood circulation to your scalp is important in keeping your hair follicles healthy and strong. You can improve the circulation of blood to your scalp by properly massaging it.

Step 1

Pour 2 to 3 ounces of olive oil in a clean, dry bowl or container. Cover and set aside.

Step 2

Brush or comb your hair to remove dandruff flakes. Start at the ends of your hair to prevent hair breakage. Also, brush your hair while bending your head downward; this will help improve blood circulation.

Step 3

Dip your fingers in the bowl filled with olive oil. Start massaging your scalp slowly in small circular motions near your temples, then work your way over to the top of your scalp and over the rest of your scalp. Do this for 15 minutes. Add more oil to your fingers if you need it.

Step 4

Wrap your head with a hot towel after massaging your scalp with olive oil. Make sure to wring out all the water before wrapping your head. Leave the towel on your head for 10 minutes. Doing this will promote blood circulation to your scalp.

Step 5

Remove the towel and rinse your hair with warm water and a mild shampoo. You can also leave the olive oil in your hair overnight if you feel your hair is too dry. Wash it out in the morning.

Step 6

Do these steps five days a week to help improve the blood circulation to your scalp.
