Master Cleanser Instructions

Overview

The Master Cleanser, also known as the “Master Cleanse” or “Lemonade Diet,” is a fasting program based on the book of the same name by Stanley Burroughs. The plan was created as a way for individuals to remove toxins from their bodies. However, since Beyonce Knowles has credited the fast for helping her lose 20 pounds, it has more recently been used for quick weight loss. Because the diet has a very low number of calories, a doctor should be consulted before starting the fast.

Step 1

Place 1/2 lemon into a juicer. Extract 2 tbsp. of lemon juice and add it to an empty bottle.

Step 2

Add the 8 oz. water, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup to the lemon juice. Mix all ingredients well before drinking. Before each sip, give the bottle a good shake to prevent the cayenne pepper from resting on top.

Step 3

Sip the maple syrup drink throughout the day. The drink can be consumed in unlimited quantities for the duration of the fasting program. No solid food is permitted. On average, the diet is followed for four to 14 days.

Step 4

Drink plenty of water. To stay hydrated on the program, drink a minimum of eight to 10 glasses of water in addition to the maple syrup drink.

Step 5

Perform a saltwater flush each morning. According to the Master Cleanse.org website, the flush is done to stimulate the bowels and eliminate waste. Mix together the 2 tsp. sea salt and 1 qt. of room-temperature water. Drink the concoction as fast as you can because the taste is unpleasant.

Step 6

Consume a light diet for three days after the Master Cleanser. You are instructed to ease back into a normal low fat diet. For three days following the cleanse, broths, juices, smoothies, fruits, and vegetables are consumed.
