Overview
The Master Cleanser, also know as the Master Cleanse or Lemonade Diet, is an extremely low calorie fasting plan. The diet is based on the book “Master Cleanser” by Stanley Burroughs, and is intended to not only jump-start weight loss, but rid the body of toxins. Due to the low number of calories, you will lose weight on the diet. However, you should consult your doctor first before starting the Master Cleanser, since weakness and dizziness are common side effects of low calorie extreme diets.
Step 1
Put 1/2 lemon slice into a juicer. Extract two tablespoons of the lemon juice and add it to an empty liter bottle.
Step 2
Add the water, cayenne pepper, and maple syrup to the liter bottle. Shake well. You will have to shake the bottle each time before you sip since the cayenne pepper has a tendency to settle on top.
Step 3
Drink as much of the lemonade mixture as you desire. You will only consume the Master Cleanser drink and a minimum of 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. No solid food is permitted and the drink is meant to stave off hunger. The Master Cleanse.org website states that most practitioners of the diet recommend following the eating habits for an average of 10 days.
Step 4
Perform a salt water flush each day on the Master Cleanser. This is part of the diet and is intended to help remove toxins from the body. Mix two teaspoons of sea salt with one quart of room temperature water. Consume the entire quart on an empty stomach each morning.
Step 5
Eat a light diet following the Master Cleanser. To keep losing weight and allow your system time to adjust to solid food, you should follow a light diet for three days after you have stopped the fast. Juices, broths, and soups can be consumed the first two days before you adding fruits and vegetables on the third day. A normal low fat diet can be followed after three days.
