Foods That Help You Stop Smoking

Smoking is one of the worst habits, yet one of the most popular, in the world. Millions of people have tried everything they can to stop smoking, yet it seems that nothing will work. However, research has shown that there are certain foods that can aid you in kicking the habit.

Dairy Beverages

Many people have claimed that after drinking a glass of milk, a cigarette does not bring the expected satisfaction that it normally does. Milk often makes cigarettes taste bitter and disgusting. Therefore, drinking milk often will lure a smoker away from the addiction of nicotine.

Orange Juice

When you smoke, you lose much of the vitamin C in your body. Taking in extra vitamin C allows your body to get rid of the negative elements of nicotine from your body. Oranges, lemons and other citrus fruits contain this crucial vitamin.

Celery

Celery, in addition to other green vegetables, has been shown to affect the taste of cigarettes and nicotine, similar to milk. Doctors claim that eating a lot of these vegetables can lower a person’s dependence on nicotine. Other vegetables may be substituted, but do not eat any sweet vegetables, as glucose can help stimulate nicotine cravings.

Broccoli

Broccoli has been linked with lowering the risk of lung disease. Because of the sulforaphane present in the vegetable, it protects the lungs from any toxins coming into the body. This can possibly lower the need for nicotine, although many people dispute it.

Red Wine

Drinking a glass of red wine every day can lower the risk of lung cancer in both smokers and non-smokers. The wine is also healthy for the heart and for blood flow. Although this may not necessarily stop the smoking habit, it can help counteract the negative effects of smoking while you try to quit.
