You’ve heard it more times than you can count — you are what you eat. But can you really be a relaxed, de-stressed person based on the foods you eat?
Third Age says “yes.” Their top-ten list of stress fighting foods is comprehensive, and includes foods that would be present in many different types of diets:
beans for the vegetarians, meat and fish for the high protein followers and potatoes for the carbo-loaders.
The thing I liked best about this list is knowing that healthy foods I already eat can help me keep mellow, like high protein foods that regulate the chemical reactions causing stress. And knowing that my occasional chocolate indulgence can stimulate endorphin production makes me feel just a little less guilty.
