Have you ever heard that change is the only consent? Consider the possibility that if nothing else, change is the one thing you can always depend on to happen. It is fairly common knowledge that most people are resistant to change. I’m sure we can all relate to a time when we did not want something in our lives to change… but it did. Leaving a comfort zone isn’t easy. Its important to keep in mind that all change, good or bad, is simply moving us forward. If we keep doing what we’ve always done, we can never have anything more. This is not to say that you can’t be happy with what you have. Being happy with what you have is what makes life enjoyable. Moving forward with our lives is what makes us… exist!
Every natural being is constantly changing. The key to realizing this is remembering that things change at different paces. One morning could be full of sunshine and blue skies but by afternoon the clouds, wind, and rain set a totally different scene. The human life span could be completed in a matter of hours or last over 100 years depending on circumstances. It took millions of years for mountains to develop, and don’t think they have stopped developing just because a human cannot live long enough to watch a mountain grow into it’s massive form. Individual emotions, cultural norms, and our physical environment all evolve.
Explanations can help a great deal for adjusting to changes, but they are not always available, and not always effective. Asking someone to feel positive about change is easier said than done. Its not unusual for changes to make us feel sad. Even as time passes, nostalgia can be a real heart-breaker for some. Sometimes it would be nice to freeze for a moment in time. No one can truly know what the future holds and no one wants to be disappointed. Everyone is the same in that we all have unique experiences in life. No one can convince you to think or feel differently than you naturally do. Ideas are shared and interpreted. I can only share with you the idea that absolutely nothing is capable of remaining the same.
This is one of the few ideas I have ever some across that has some real stability. Accepting that everything is always changing is a good way to stay prepared for future changes in your life. Appreciate what you have now, be proud of what you have accomplished in the past, and participate in the existence of yourself, your community, human kind, the planet Earth.
